9 - 12 DEC 2013

Day 1: Arrived in Mega Inn, Tangkahan

We took AirAsia to Kuala Namu International Airport, Medan. Previously is the Polonia Airport which located in the centre of Medan Town. Only this year, 2013, it has been change & re-build as Kuala Namu International Airport & away from town area.

Our transfer was arranged by they owner of our staying place. It's takes about 45 minutes from the new airport to Medan.
The airport seems to be very upgraded from ours airport, quite big & everything is still new.

We took evening flight & reached Medan at 6pm (Indonesia time). Then, we were informed that the journey from the airport to Tangkahan will takes around at least 4-5 hours. Very surprised is where the condition of the road was very bad. Along the way, you will takes about 2 hours from airport to pass through several of small town. Then, another 2 hours with the condition of the road is very bad. Finally, another less than 2 hours off the road with pass through a few villages & lastly the oil palm plantation.

At firs, we decided to stay 1 night in Medan. Due to budget wise, we has revised & decided to went straight to Tangkahan on our first day of arrival.

We arrived in Tangkahan around 12 mid night & check in at Mega Inn Tangkahan.

We has been greeted by all their staff as well as some of local people there. It was very dark & we would have to cross the hanging bridge to our stay. Luckly, they are kind enough to help us carry all of our luggage. Only on the next day had the chances to took these pictures.

2 rivers become 1 & this river is heading to Medan...river from the right is coming from East Aceh (if i'm not mistaken) hehehe... The water was green when only no rain but turn to yellow color when comes to rainy day.

This is the bridge that connected to Mega Inn, Tangkahan from the other side. It's about 100 metres long & more than 20 feet high from the water surface at that time. The more people on this bridge, the more this bridge will swigging.

Walkway in Mega Inn, Tangkahan with morning fresh air & nice garden...

This is the walkway after the hanging bridge before the entrance to our stay. We find a couples of houses of local people staying along this walkway.  There is also a small shop selling daily use things such slipper, soap, biscuit, light drinks etc.

A small souvenir shop, not much things but quite good & have the initiative to sell...

Day 2: Rainy day in Mega Inn Tangkahan

Today is rainy & luckly we did not book or plan any activities today. We decided to have our rest because of the long journey yesterday.

We had our lunch at Megan Inn Restaurant. Very nice food but do aware if you are not a spicy eater, then would have to inform their waiter during the order.
(Forgot to bring camera at this time)

In the evening, we went around our stays & play water by the river side.

Walking down the stairs to the river side...very excited...

At the junction of 2 rivers become 1.....

Then, we had our dinner around 8pm...this is what we had request, a family dinner set hehehe...

Even though its very expensive, but for us it was a very good experience that we never had in our life.

Early morning at 8am, we had to walk about 1km to the Conservation Corresponse Unit (CRU) Tangkalan. But, very kind of the Abang Mega & his guide, Nataq, they took 5 of us there on the motorbikes.

Here we are....at the CRU area & see there are the elephants. can't wait to get closer to all of them....

Walking with elephants to the river side...

The elephants then is instructed to go for their toilet first before their bathing session. Here, they been asked to 'poopoo' & its compulsory because by their 'poopoo' then the guide may know the condition of these elephants is healthy or sick.

Water Tubing

It's tubing time....

Half of the way, we had stopped at another water falls which took about 3 minutes to walk into the jungle to the water fall. It was really nice & cool.
