Hat Yai - Songkhla - Koh Lanta
Day 1: Hat Yai - Songkhla
For
Malaysian, you may now park your car at the Terminal Bandar Tasik
Selatan (TBS) & take JetBus to the LCCT with only RM8 per way.
By AirAsia again, we arrived in Hat Yai at 12 noon (Thailand time).
Me & my husband went straight to Songkhla City as my husband had official matter need to be settled. It's cost you only 660THB per car from the airport to the Songkhla City by the Airport Taxi. Once finished at around 5.30pm, then we went to check in at Sabai Sabai Resort Songkhla.
Sabai Sabai Resort is about 5 minutes away from the Songkhla little city. The resort we stayed were very basic but is well design, near to the lake, air-condition & the best part is the channels of the television. You stay there then you will find what i mean..hehehe...
At night, we went to the Night Market which was informed by the local people there. However, a bit hard to find public transport from the resort to the city but it was easy from the other way. We tried to find Tuktuk & accidentally we have stopped a family on an ice-cream motorbike. Luckly, they are kind enough to give us a ride to the city.
We do some shopped at the night market & lets see what you can find here...surprise surprise...

Lastly,we bought a couple watch with only 400THB..quite cheap...
The next morning, we called the same driver as yesterday & took us directly from Songkhla to Emporer Hotel in Hat Yai. It's cost us about 600THB per way with a Toyata car with aircondition.
Before heading back to Hat Yai, we dropped at Songkhla City to have our lunch & grab some snacks. We had our lunch at a Muslim Restaurant nearby the Masjid Asasul Islam. There are a few Muslim restaurants along the street for those muslim travelers.
We back again to Hat Yai city centre & had stayed at the Emperor Hotel Hat Yai.
Looks creepy but quite OK for us to just have a good night sleep.
We walked along the street from the hotel to the city center.
Until we reach the most visited shopping complex called Lee Garden Plaza... It were surrounded by many stalls selling clothing, local cuisines, souvenirs etc.
Early morning at 7.00 am, we went to Talaq Kassim (bas station in Hat Yai) by Tuktuk which cost you about 80THB for 2 persons & take Minivan Transfer for Trang which cost you 250THB per person. From this point, there are 2 ways of getting to Koh Lanta. It is either from Trang or from Krabi itself.
If you choose to go through Krabi, its will cost you 500THB per person & the journey takes about 5 hours only to Krabi, then you will have to take the ferry transfer to Koh Phi Phi for 2 hours, after that ferry transfer to Koh Lanta for 1 1/2 hours. It's depends on the type of speed boat that you are using with.
We had have our breakfast at the bus station before leaving cause the journey would takes quite a long time & it is suggested that you have your meals or bought somethings to eat on the road.
Then, we choose to go through Trang which takes about 2 hours from Hat Yai & please make sure you are dropped at the Trang Terminal which near the Railway Station, not the Trang Bus Station. Otherwise, you will have to take Pick Up Taxi which cost you 12THB per person from the Trang Bus Station to the Railway Station.
All transfer to Koh Lanta will be drop off here, in front of the Kanokwan Tour which the only agency that did the transfer straight to your hotel/resort in Koh Lanta. At our first deal, we were informed the price is 250THB per person. Then we decided to hold from buying the tickets & went for lunch.
We reached Trang at about 11.00 am & we have our lunch at a Muslim Restaurant called Masala Station, just in front of the Kanokwan Tour.
The owner of the restaurant were used to be a student in University Islam Antarabangsa (UIA) Malaysia & he can spoke a little bit of Malay language.He & family members were very kind enough to help us there.
What is the special menu at this restaurant is the Thai Noddle Curry Koa Soi & Soy with Goat Milk. It's a mixture of Thai & Chinese cook, very delicious. You should try & it's worthy..
We had been informed by local people that the ticket to Koh Lanta is only 180THB exclude ferry ticket transfer & 200THB for all in. That's why we did not buy the ticket at the first place when we were offered for 250THB per person exclude the ferry ticket price which should be 270THB in total per person. My husband went to negotiate & gets 250THB per person with inclusive of the ferry ticket price.
After my husband performed the Friday prayer at the nearby mosque, then we took the Minivan transfer at 3.10 pm. Along the way, we were on the ferry for 2 times to cross the middle land between Trang & Koh Lanta.
We arrived at the Mook Lanta Resort at around 9.00 pm. We were supposed to be checking in tomorrow but had decided to check in earlier & very surprise that the owner of the resort do welcoming us even though they were not being informed.
Here is the front of the Mook Lanta Resort. Even thought the resort a little bit out from the city, but you still can get all the necessary things nearby. We rent a scooter with only 150THB per day (24 hours), there is also laundry service of 20THB per KG, small market, restaurant especially for Muslim traveler.
This resort is located near to Long beach or Phra Ae beach.
We had our day meals almost at the same restaurant here because it's very very cheap & no worries, it's totally Halal..
Breakfast, i would suggest you to try their white noodle with coconut curry (kan num king num keng)..seriously, i do ate 2 bowls every time of my meals..haha..
While dinner, you should try their Tom Yam & Chicken Padprik...very nice...you will also being served with fresh vegetables in a big plate & it's free here, but maybe chargeable at other places. Don't be surprise, with all these, it's only 100THB which enough for two person meals.
Then, we went around the city & do try Pancake with various flavor cause i'm sure you will not find it any where else, out from this country. Should try..its delicious...

We had also being welcomed by a Muslim owner of Hutyi Boat Resort. He is very kind & helpful. He also become our translator since he's the only person who understand english which make us easier to ask many question about the island & other interesting places to visit. The average rate is the same with where we stay that time, it's about 400THB per night during low season & around 600THB per night during peak season.
We visited his resort to have a look on the surrounding, so that we might can try to stay there for our next trip. He was very kind, welcoming us & treat us like part of his family, even though with those guest that staying at his resort.
Well, since our trip this time is during low season/green season. So there are many shops are closed & will only be open when the peak season is coming. There will no much activities held during the low season & it would be suitable for those that really looking at to have a relaxation vacation.
We should be staying here for 3 night, but decided to cut it short into 2 nights & changed the plan to stay at Koh Phi Phi (Phi Phi Island).
After the whole day survey, we finally found an agent who sell the cheapest ferry ticket to Koh Phi Phi which is only 300THB per person for low season & 400THB per person for peak season. You will be pick up at your hotel to the jetty for the ferry to Koh Phi Phi at 8.00 am. You can contact Mr Pard (hiedlanta@yahoo.com) from Hi-ED Travel for the ferry transfer. At the same time, he is also doing the currency exchange in case you need any additional changer at the last minutes.
There are only 2 trips from Koh Lanta to Koh Phi Phi during the low season, morning & afternoon. But it's might be a lot during the peak season. The ferry transfer will takes about 1&1/2 hours, so make sure you have your meals before on the boat.
Early morning, a truck pick us up at our resort & send us to the jetty for the transfer to Koh Phi Phi. Well, shall continue my journey to Koh Phi Phi in the next writing. Very interesting...hehehe...

Day 2: Songkhla - Hat Yai
